Davina McCall has reached out to James Argent after he opened up about his battles with drug addiction, telling him: “You’ve got this.”

The TOWIE star – who suffered a near-fatal cocaine overdose in 2019 – spoke out about his struggle on This Morning this week.

During the interview he cited McCall, who was once addicted to heroin, as one of the people who had inspired him.

She has now offered him her support, writing on Twitter: “You’ve got this @RealJamesArgent.”

Adding a heart emoji, McCall went on: “One day at a time, love you x and so so much respect for doing this x.”

The former Big Brother host added that Argent had taken a “big step”.

During Argent’s interview on This Morning, he said he felt like his drug addiction was “the worst kept secret over the last few years”.

“It was apparent to everyone I’d had various trips to rehab and I just kind of felt I never really wanted to come out and own it and admit to my problems,” he said.

“I thought people may judge me… and I felt ashamed and embarrassed.

“But then I feel like some of my heroes, the likes of Robbie Williams, Davina McCall, Russell Brand, Ronnie Wood - these are are people I hugely respect and who I look up to and if they can have similar problems to myself and they’ve owned it and moved forward and got themselves happy and healthy and achieved amazing things, and I thought that’s what I want to do as well.”
