Yesterday, actor Idris Elba celebrated his 48th birthday and, aside from his wife Sabrina Dhowre, another woman decided to wish him a very public Happy Birthday.

Dawn French took to Twitter last night to share the amazing message with her fans. Posting a picture of a shirtless Idris stood next to a motorbike, Dawn captioned the snap: "So he said, 'I'll just bring your scooter in darling' & I said 'But you've forgotten your shirt!', & he said 'Who cares it's all for you babe'.... & then I snapped this… Happy Birthday to my serious/going steady boyfriend @idriselba."

Her followers (understandably) found the Tweet hilarious and many of them joined in on the joke.

"This man is seriously what dreams are made of. Btw if Idris wants his shirt back, please let him know I've sewn the buttons back on and washed it. Lol xx," said one.

"You make me laugh, sometimes just thinking about you makes me chuckle and the other day the kids asked ‘I wonder what Dawn French would say about this’. I’ve taught them well. #legend," another replied.

"Dawn you are the luckiest lady alive. Can you just let him know that I need someone to bring my scooter in also, be really good if he could park it for me also," said another.

"Wow wait what are you doing taking a photo of my guy outside my house!? @idriselba@Dawn_French you’ve been warned about this #fatalattraction," joked a fan.

Though there doesn't appear to be any response from Idris, we're sure he found the Tweet just as funny as everyone else.

Idris' wife Sabrina shared a lovely photo of her husband on Instagram, accompanying it with a heartfelt caption: "Waking up to this face is the best part of my day, you mean the absolute world to me. Happy birthday my friend, healer, lover, teacher, husband @idriselba."

Happy Birthday Idris!
