Dawn French has spoken of her shock at the behaviour of some young women after watching their promiscuous antics on a reality TV show.

The Vicar of Dibley star asked “is this what women threw themselves in front of horses for” in an interview condemning certain women who she says seem to act like men.

She told the Sunday Times: “I am shocked by how they behave. These girls are preloading with vodka, primping, helping each other get ready.

“You reckon they want to meet someone who would love, cherish and respect them. But instead they go out and get utterly hammered and are s****ing in a bush and coming out and going ‘Yes!’, like men.”

The French and Saunders actor, 59, made the comments after watching a reality TV show set in Ibiza, which she said prompted her to question where things had gone wrong and wonder why women no longer seemed to value their bodies.

In the wide-ranging interview, French also opened up about her 25-year marriage to comic Lenny Henry, revealing that bigots tried to burn down her house and left excrement on her doorstep over the relationship.

"I fell in love with a man and he happened to be black," she said.

"Getting s**t on your doorstep — these things make you steel up a bit and think: ‘Bring it on, I can deal with this.’"
