Day-by-day London weather forecast as 53mph wind gusts set to hit capital
London is set to face potentially hazardous conditions on Sunday as Storm Bert threatens to bring wind gusts of up to 53mph to the capital, meteorologists warn. The Met Office has indicated that the powerful gusts will remain consistently high throughout the day, rarely dropping below 45mph.
The Met Office said the South East will be "Windy everywhere, with gales perhaps locally severe."
The severe winds come as Storm Bert has been wreaking havoc on the UK, with Met Office Chief Meteorologist Jason Kelly warning of a complex system bringing a combination of snow, rain, and powerful winds across the country.

"Storm Bert is what we call a 'multi-hazard event'," he explained, adding that multiple National Severe Weather Warnings are in place and may be updated at short notice as the situation develops.
The exceptional wind speeds have prompted National Highways to urge extra caution. National Network Manager Mark Nash advised: "With the arrival of Storm Bert it is important to plan ahead for your journey, and if weather conditions become challenging, adjust your driving behaviour."
Adding to the challenging conditions, temperatures will remain unusually mild for the season, reaching up to 15°C in London despite the turbulent weather. However, the strong winds will make it feel significantly colder than the thermometer suggests.
Looking ahead, while Monday will bring some relief with winds easing to 32mph, the respite may be brief. The Met Office indicates unsettled conditions will persist into next week, with wet and windy weather likely to return by Wednesday.
