Deadly Love: Female Octopus Strangles Male After Mating

A diver in Victoria’s Port Phillip Bay was filming a large male octopus when it was suddenly snatched by a female octopus, mated with, and then strangled.

“The biggest Maori octopus I’ve ever seen out having a fabulous day, then, a female hiding under a ledge grabs him, mates with him and then kills him,” diver Jules Casey wrote on Instagram.
