Dealer busted after drugs fall out of pants during search at police station
A dealer has this week been jailed after his drugs fell out of his pants during a search at a police station. Luke Hewitt was already wanted on recall to prison when a Nottinghamshire Police road crime team officer spotted a car which was linked to the 32-year-old in West Bridgford on November 6, 2021.
He was arrested and searched, and as well as the 12g wrap of synthetic cannabinoid which fell out of his underwear, a knife and eight small bags of cocaine were found in his waistband. He also had two mobile phones, which were seized and analysed and found to contain messages pertaining to drug deals including names of dealers.
He pleaded guilty to supplying a Class A drug between September 19 and November 6, 2021, and also to possession with intent to supply cocaine, possession of a class B drug and possession of a knife in a public place. Hewitt, formerly of Thurlong Close, Derby, was jailed for four years at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday, September 5.
Detective Sergeant Rob Palethorpe, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Drug dealing is a serious blight that causes misery for our communities and devastates the lives of vulnerable people, so I’m pleased we were able to disrupt Hewitt’s criminal activity.
“As a result of our road crime team officer being out on proactive mobile patrols, he was able to firstly identify a vehicle intelligence suggested was linked to a wanted man, before then moving in covertly to observe the suspect and firm up these suspicions.
“As a direct result of this work, we were ultimately able to remove a drug trafficker from our streets and take drugs and a knife out of circulation before they could cause any harm.”
