Dean Hadley's derby warning as Hull KR ace pinpoints FC's key improvement area

Hull Kingston Rovers forward Dean Hadley is not reading too much into his team's convincing wins over Hull FC from earlier this season - as the Robins aim for three victories from three 2024 derbies.

He played in both opening derbies as the red and whites triumphed 22-0 away then 34-10 on their Craven Park home turf. Saturday's match will be at the MKM Stadium where Rovers have been impressive on recent trips.

Hadley said: "I don't know if we can take too much out of those games. They have improved recently. They are defending better. It's going to be a tough game."

Willie Peters' men had been looking to go into the derby with a run of form of five wins in a row - instead they were defeated by Catalans Dragons on Saturday. Rovers lost in golden-point extra time after fighting back from 14-0 down at half-time to level at 14-14.

But Hadley, who joined Rovers from Hull FC in 2019, said: "It's a perfect game for us after the disappointment of Saturday. It's about getting back to winning ways - and derby games are massive.

"After Saturday, there was disappointment. There were soft tries. We were off it. We got a nil against us in that second half though, it was much better. We need to take that into this week. Hull FC have got plenty of threats but, for us, it's about what we do. We pride ourselves on our defence and our effort areas. We'd love to get a nil, like we would any other week."
