Dean Shiels believes his latest signing for Coleraine "ticks all the boxes". The Bannsiders have moved quickly to snap up Northern Ireland Under-21 defender Cameron Stewart following his release from Premier League outfit Ipswich Town.

Stewart spent last season on loan at Cove Rangers helping the Toonsers to a fifth place finish in League One. Shiels continues to put his stamp on things at The Showgrounds after taking over as Head Coach and is delighted to bring in the 21-year-old and bolster his defensive options.

“Cameron ticks all the boxes, we have a profile of player we are looking to try and recruit, he’s got really good potential having had lots of minutes at a good level in Scotland last year," said Shiels. "We are expecting him to come in and really develop under the full time model and expecting big things from him."

The 6' 2" defender spent the second half of the 2022/23 season on loan at Crusaders. Growing up a Coleraine fan however makes his permanent switch to The Showgrounds a bit more special.

He said: “My dad’s side of the family are all massive fans, so growing up we went to all the games, so it means a bit more to me now being a player.”
