'Death in Paradise' star Ardal O’Hanlon reveals what he’ll miss most about filming the show

Death in Paradise star Ardal O’Hanlon has revealed what he’ll miss most about filming the popular crime drama.

Last year, the Irish actor - who has played Detective Inspector Jack Mooney on the show since February 2017 - announced he was quitting the show in order to spend more time with his family. But while it was his decision to leave, he’s gutted about not being able to work alongside co-star Don Warrington any more.

"I think (Jack) had a great mutual respect with [Warrington’s character Commissioner Selwyn Patterson] and they were always my favourite scenes. He's such a brilliant actor, he's such a great man, he has such a presence,” he told Hello! magazine.

"You don't have to act with him, you just react. He's so good. I will really miss those scenes. I just enjoy them so much. We have this little dance that we used to do, it was kind of funny just working around each other, trying to work each other out and so that was great."

Last year, it was announced that Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps’ Ralf Little would be joining the cast and taking over from O’Hanlon as its lead. Despite appearing on the show back in 2013, as holidaymaker Will Teague, Little is set to play DI Neville Parker - another British detective tasked with solving crimes on the Caribbean island - this time round.

Death in Paradise continues tonight (January 30) at 9pm on BBC One.
