There are lots of things to love about Death in Paradise – the comforting and predictable format, Harry the CGI lizard, and a wealth of familiar faces as guest stars.

And after a dramatic two-parter, last night's (February 21) Death in Paradise was back to normal, complete with a well-known celebrity cameo.

While Ardal O'Hanlon's Jack Mooney investigated the unusual murder of beloved Saint Marie DJ Dezzie Dixon, fans at home found themselves preoccupied with the appearance of former EastEnders star Richard Blackwood.

Because not only were viewers unable to forget his EE role as Vincent Hubbard, they were also distracted by his... unusual, possibly Jamaican, accent.

"Richard Blackwood causally strolling in with a thick Jamaican accent", one fan wrote on Twitter alongside a confused GIF, while another put it more bluntly. "Richard Blackwood accent is awful", they wrote.

It's not all bad news for Richard though, as his Death in Paradise stint might just lead to a return to Albert Square.

Death in Paradise continues next Thursday (March 7) at 9pm on BBC One.
