Death in Paradise series 9 has begun filming – with one guest star revealed

Filming for the ninth series of Death in Paradise has officially begun - with one guest star already revealed.

The forthcoming series will see Ardal O'Hanlon return as DI Jack Mooney, and will also welcome Alexander Vlahos into the fold.

The Merlin and Versailles actor revealed his role in a tweet on Sunday (May 19) with a seasonably appropriate GIF to boot.

"Tomorrow I fly to Guadeloupe for Death in Paradise series nine," he said.

"It’s 30 degrees over there."

The ninth series of Death of Paradise will also welcome back Tobi Bakare (Officer JP Hooper), Shyko Amos (Officer Ruby Patterson), Don Warrington (Commissioner Selwyn Patterson) and Elizabeth Bourgine (Catherine Bordey).

Aude Legastelois joins series nine as the newest member of the Honoré Police team, DS Madeleine Dumas.

So, what can fans expect from series nine?

Well, with a tenth series already confirmed, producers on the show are already teasing "big surprises".

"We're thrilled to be back in Guadeloupe with our fantastic cast and crew getting to work on more ingenious murder mysteries in the Caribbean sun," said executive producer Tim Key.

"We can't wait for the audience to see what we've got in store for series nine – there are some big surprises coming."
