Death in Paradise star Tahj Miles has opened up about potentially returning to the BBC One show.

Tahj exited his role as Officer Marlon Pryce earlier this year when the character chose to leave Saint Marie to accompany his sister on a scholarship in Jamaica.

Fans took a liking to Marlon as part of a long-running Death in Paradise storyline where he went from petty thief to joining the Saint Marie police squad.

While the dust has just settled on Tahj's departure from Death in Paradise, he told The Radio Times that it's possible fans could see the character again someday.

"I never say no to anything," he said. "My character didn't die, so the door's always open. But it just has to make sense. It all has to make sense."

Tahj clarified that it was important to respect his character by giving him a logical reason to come back to Saint Marie.

"If you don't see me on the show for the next two, three years, just know that it doesn't make sense in that moment in time, for whatever reason, whether it's just what I'm doing personally in my life, the direction they're going in on the show, the direction they want to bring the character back into," he declared.

"If I'm back, it's because it makes sense. I don't like doing things that don't make sense. That's when we get into a whole bunch of problems. But never say never. The door's open. So we'll see, we'll see."

Miles has kept busy since leaving Death in Paradise with a role in the BBC's drama series Mr Loverman, where Lennie James plays a 74-year-old Antiguan-born man who is considering coming out to his wife of 50 years.

The actor recently confessed it was "scary" to join the cast of a major drama like Mr Loverman because he'd "just been in the head of Marlon for four years" on Death in Paradise.

Death in Paradise and its spin-off, Beyond Paradise, both air on BBC One and stream on BBC iPlayer.
