Death Toll From Armenian Shopping Center Explosion Rises to 16, Officials Say

At least 16 people died following an explosion at a shopping center in Yerevan on Sunday, August 14, Armenia’s Ministry of Health said.

Footage recorded near the Vstretch Bridge in Yerevan shows black smoke rising from the Surmalu Shopping Mall. The Armenian Ministry of Health said on Tuesday that 16 people had died following the explosion on Sunday. Sixty-two people reported injuries at the city’s medical centers, with seven still receiving treatment on Tuesday, the ministry said.
