Death Toll in Uganda Flooding Rises to at Least 29

At least 29 people were killed in flooding in Uganda’s Eastern Region, local media reported on Wednesday, August 3, following several days of heavy rain.

Video filmed by Salim Da tall Musoga shows flood conditions in Butaleja.

A regional spokesperson said 20 victims had been identified by name, while the government said seven people were still missing, local media reported.

The flooding came after heavy rainfall in eastern regions started on July 30, which caused rivers to burst their banks and led to several landslides. Credit: Salim Da tall Musoga via Storyful
