Deborah Jones: Man arrested on suspicion of murder after woman dies in Nottingham car park

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 48-year-old woman died in a car park in Nottingham city centre.

Officers were called to the Metro car park on Union Road at 11.05pm on Saturday.

Deborah Jones, also known as Deborah Hendrick, was given CPR by paramedics at the scene but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

A 59-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Police have said it is believed the people involved were known to each other.

The area remains cordoned off as inquiries continue.

Detective Inspector Kenny Henry said: "While I know the effects of this incident will understandably shock and sadden the local community, please be reassured that we are not seeking anyone else in connection with Deborah's death and there is no cause for the community to be fearful or alarmed.

"I would like to hear from anyone who feels they may have information that could assist our investigation, and who hasn't already come forward, to please get in touch with us.

"If you have any information - no matter how small or insignificant you may think it may seem - I would urge you to contact police as soon as possible.

"Deborah's family have requested privacy at this difficult time and our thoughts remain with them and Deborah's friends as we carry on with our extensive enquiries."
