Declan Rice has revealed Harry Maguire's new nickname after England's win over Finland on Tuesday. Rice and Maguire started both matches over the international break as the Three Lions began their Nations League campaign with successive victories.

Arsenal midfielder Rice and Manchester United defender Maguire have been integral to Lee Carsley's positive start in charge of England after being appointed as the new interim manager last month. Carsley replaced Gareth Southgate, who stepped down after the defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.

Following the 2-0 success against Finland at Wembley, Maguire posted on Instagram with an assessment of the two matches. Alongside four images, Maguire said in a caption: "Enjoyable camp with the lads, perfect start to the nations league," alongside the England flag emoji and a love heart emoji.

Rice was among those to leave a comment on that post as he identified Maguire's new nickname in the England squad. Rice said: "Love it Tony." Jack Grealish reacted to the remark and left three laughing face emojis. James Maddison and ex-Leicester teammate Youri Tielemans were among those to like the post.

Maguire, who was dropped for the 3-0 defeat to Liverpool before the international break, started United's first two Premier League matches. He was replaced by new signing Matthijs de Ligt, who partnered Lisandro Martinez in central defence and that could be the new first-choice defensive duo Erik ten Hag decides to go for.

United are back in action when they travel to Southampton on Saturday. They will be looking to return to winning ways after back-to-back losses. Speaking ahead of the game, Ten Hag said: "We're in the transition period, we have to integrate a lot of young players in the team.

"We have to bring the injuries back in the team. Before anyone thinks about excuses, we have to win every game, I know that, the team knows this. We will focus on every game and have the mindset we have to win."
