Official images of The Defenders, Netflix's upcoming mini-series that squeezes Iron Fist, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones into one hell of a crime-fighting tag team, are here at last.

We've seen very little of this televisual answer to The Avengers so far, aside from one snappy trailer and some smiling and scowling, but these new pics give a first glimpse at Sigourney Weaver's non-comic-book big bad Alexandra.

Next up we have Jessica Jones, who's walking down the street having a chat with radio host, kung-fu expert and romancer of murderers, Trish Walker.

What could they be chatting about? Maybe Jessica's relationship status with on-again-off-again beau Luke Cage, who was last seen smooching the shows' crossover character, nurse Claire Temple.

Expect muchos superhero dramz as Claire gets caught between Luke and Jessica, Matt and Luke, oh and Misty Knight and Luke. Although, Misty is thought to be getting it on with super-newbie Danny Rand aka Iron Fist at some stage.

Did you catch all that? All this super-bed-hopping is super-confusing. It's like Geordie Shore with even more muscles.

Finally, we see newcomer Iron First using his titular hand to bonk a hooded baddie right in the face. His hand is covered in bandages, either from hitting people or singeing his pinkies with that flaming punch of his. Entertainment Weekly also released a host of moody Defenders pictures last week to coincide with their interview special.

And that's pretty much it. Netflix describes the series as: "A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City.

"This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realise they just might be stronger when teamed together."

Let's hope too many super-cooks don't spoil the Netflix broth when The Defenders lands on the streaming service in summer 2017.
