Delight for Bury venue after being shortlisted in Gaydio Pride Awards
A popular Bury town centre bar has been shortlisted for a prize in a national Pride awards ceremony.
Staff at The House of Bridget on Silver Street are celebrating their Gaydio Pride Awards "Venue of the Year" nomination after creating a "safe and inclusive space for the LGBTQ+ community" in Bury.
The venue will be competing against Filthy Gorgeous and Swagga, both in Manchester, Arch in Clapham, The Werkroom in Stoke-on-Trent and Planet Bar in Edinburgh.

A spokesperson from The House of Bridget said that staff are "really excited" and that they "may have had a drink or two to celebrate".
They said: “We did not expect the nomination, as a relatively new venue we had been solely focussed on creating a safe and inclusive space for the LGBTQ+ community.

“We wanted to showcase the best up-and-coming drag acts and provide something unique to the town.
“This nomination has validated everything we have worked towards.”
They added that they never expected to get this far and appreciate every single one of their resident queens, staff, and local supporters.
If the premises wins the award, staff say they are sure that the venue will celebrate by "putting on the biggest party The House of Bridget has ever seen".
