Delighted Prince Charles reveals he has toasted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal baby news 'several times'

A smiling Prince of Wales has revealed he has toasted the news of becoming a grandfather again “several times” after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they are expecting their first child.

Charles made the comment while on a tour of the Royal Lochnagar Distillery in Aberdeenshire on Tuesday.

When asked if he had toasted Prince Harry and Meghan’s announcement, Charles responded: "Oh yes, absolutely. Several times, thank you."

On the distillery tour Charles tasted a 30-year-old malt whisky produced in his honour.

The 69-year-old described the drink as “frightfully good”.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed the Meghan’s pregnancy on Monday.

Announcing the baby news, a statement from Kensington Palace said: “Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the spring of 2019.

The expectant pair were met with cheers from fans as they visited the Sydney Opera house after announcing they are having a child, while on a 16 day tour down under.

At one point, the Duchess said: “We're ready! We're excited to join the club."
