Love Island star Demi Jones is celebrating being cancer-free, just seven months after announcing she had been diagnosed with thyroid cancer.

The 23-year-old model and social media influencer - who took part in Strictly The Real Full Monty on ITV on Monday night - proudly announced the positive update on her Instagram page.

Jones shared a picture of herself at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth saying: "I’M CANCER FREE!!!! I did it!

"I got my full body scan results back and there’s not a single cancer cell left in my body.

"It’s been such a difficult year mentally and physically for me with my surgeries and treatment but I’m beyond grateful for everyone’s kindness and support over this past year.

"I will continue to be an advocate for cancer awareness and all my love and strength goes out to those who continue to fight this awful disease, here’s to a healthy and happy 2022."

The reality TV star underwent a thyroidectomy in June to remove the gland.

She joined a troupe of celebrities - including Blue singer Duncan James, Loose Women's Brenda Edwards, EastEnders star Laila Morse and former Strictly professionals James and Ola Jordan - in performing a strip-tease on national television to raise cancer awareness in Strictly The Real Full Monty.

Jones told Digital Spy from rehearsals: "It's been such an emotional rollercoaster, it's like counselling really.

"It's made me feel much better and given me so much comfort and understanding in the last few months we've been rehearsing than the whole time since I've been diagnosed.

"For me, it's been amazing."
