Demi Lovato is only 24 years old but she’s already experienced many of life’s darker attributes, including depression, bulimia and substance abuse. The star turned her life around when she sought professional help before her demons destroyed her rocketting career and is now sober, and wants to be an inspiration to people suffering from mental health issues.

In an upcoming interview on Sunday Morning, she said of buying into her temporary home: “I don’t know what it says, it just feels good.”

And her manager Phil McIntyre - who stood by her during her darker days - added: "How many 24-year-olds own their own treatment centre? But then to leverage her position in pop music to do so much good is just incredible.”

CAST CEO Mike Bayer has been accompanying Demi on her summer tour and recalled she was “closed off” when they first met and Demi admitted: “Yeah, I was a nightmare. I would say … the word that I want to say, but it’s so inappropriate that I can’t. And this will be on a Sunday morning, so I’m not going to say it!”

She said: “It sounds ridiculous but, like, I kind of made a pact with God.

"And I don’t even think you’re supposed to do that, but I was, like, I promised, ‘If you make me a singer one day, I’m going to use my voice for so much more than singing, and I’m going to help people with it.’ ”

Demi Lovato’s interview will air on CBS on September 11.
