Demi Lovato defends slamming Taylor Swift and her 'squad'

Demi Lovato got a mixed reaction following her latest interview, which saw the singer slam Taylor Swift and her ‘girl squad’ for trying to “bury” Katy Perry with the Bad Blood song and music video.

Whilst the majority praised Demi for being honest in the chat, others weren’t so happy and accused Demi of using Taylor’s name to make headlines.

In case you missed it, Demi criticized Taylor by saying: “I think that having a song and a video about tearing Katy Perry down, that’s not women’s empowerment.”

She then went on to add: “This will probably get me in trouble, but I don’t see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body. It’s kind of this false image of what people should look like.”

Now Demi has taken to Twitter to defend her comments, writing: “I get asked questions. I answer them. Sue me.

“Also don’t forget that words can be taken out of context when doing interviews.. still not apologizing for saying what everyone want to say [sic]”.

She then wrote: “I don’t understand why people care so much about what I say in interviews? Do y’all watch the news? Don’t y’all got s*** to worry about?”

Taylor’s ex, Calvin Harris, confirmed earlier this year that Taylor had a game plan to destroy Katy’s reputation, with the 26-year-old star being left furious when three of her backing dancers quit her ‘Red’ tour to join Katy’s tour instead.

Katy previously admitted that she’d be willing to move on if Taylor apologised for how she treated her, with it all coming to a head when Taylor rallied her famous girl friends – including Cara Delevingne and Selena Gomez – to star in the Bad Blood music video, which saw the group taking down Taylor’s enemy.

Taylor has not commented on Demi’s recent remarks.
