Demi Lovato hates the 'spotlight'

Is it really that time of year again when we all start planning our New Year resolutions?

Demi Lovato has ranted to her 38.8 million Twitter followers that she hates “the spotlight” and will turn her back on her music career in 2017.

The Cool For The Summer hitmaker has warned her army of admirers that she’s planning on taking a sabatical next year.

Demi – who has suffered from depression and alcoholism in the past – wrote on Twitter: “So excited for 2017. Taking a break from music and the spotlight.. I am not meant for this business and the media … It doesn’t feel worth it anymore. I’d rather do charity work tbh.”

Her comments come after she slammed Taylor Swift in a recent interview for trying to “tear down” Katy Perry and building a squad of model-type women.

She said: “I think that having a song and a video about tearing Katy Perry down, that’s not women’s empowerment… This will probably get me in trouble, but I don’t see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body. It’s kind of this false image of what people should look like.”

Following the hailstorm of criticism that followed her comments, Demi tweeted: “I get asked questions. I answer them. Sue me. Also don’t forget that words can be taken out of context when doing interviews.. still not apologizing for saying what everyone want to say….

“I don’t understand why people care so much about what I say in interviews? Do y’all watch the news? Don’t y’all got s**t to worry about?”

Demi loves to change her mind and dramatically quit Twitter last month, returning within just 24 hours. So please forgive us if we sound like we don’t believe her when she says she’s going to disappear from our screens next year.

Still got love for you, Demi!
