The 24-year-old songstress, who will celebrate her fifth “sober birthday” this Wednesday, said that her renewed relationship with Guilherme, who turns 31 this month, is “going really good.”

“I’m just having fun, you know? And my life is in a really good place right now,” she said of being with her Brazilian beau, adding that his sense of humour keeps her smiling. “He makes me laugh.”

As part of her mission to raise awareness of mental health issues, the twice-rehabbed star also spoke candidly about the rest of her recent journey, including staying on a healthier path for the last half-decade of her life.

“It feels amazing,” the Confident vocalist told Entertainment Tonight at Saturday’s Kids Choice Awards. “All I’ve been doing is focusing on bettering myself. It’s been quite the journey, but it’s well worth it.”

Demi, who first entered into rehab at the age of 18, revealed the most important part of her recovery was learning to “surrender”, and acknowledge the truth about her drugs and alcohol addictions.

“Surrendering is the most important thing whenever you’re trying to battle your demons,” Demi explained. “You have to admit that you have a problem first, and then you can overcome them.”

As one of the most outspoken celebrities about her own personal experiences, Demi also said she’s willing to offer help and support to people who may be on similar journeys to her.

“People have reached out and I’ve been able to help,” she shared. “Some people it helps, some people that’s their own journey. But, if anyone ever needs anything, I’m always around.”

Ahhh. Keep rocking on Demi; you’re a true inspiration. <3
