Demi Lovato Quits X Factor USA to Focus on Music

American singer Demi Lovato is reportedly quitting the X Factor USA, after serving as a judge on the reality show for the past two seasons.

According to People magazine, the 21-year-old former Disney star "plans to spend next year completely focused on her music".

"She had a great run and a good time," an insider added.

Lovato is set to headline her first arena tour - The Neon Lights Tour - which kicks off on 9 February in Vancouver and ends on 30 March in Indianapolis. She will be bringing X Factor acts Fifth Harmony, Cher Lloyd, and Little Mix with her.

X Factor's creator and boss Simon Cowell confirmed that the Heart Attack singer will not return for the next season.

"I always knew she wasn't coming back because she's touring, so I knew that," Cowell said.

The Give Your Heart a Break singer talked about the exit to media.

"I started the show being a singer and a musician, and so I'm going to go back to that," Lovato said. "It's been really great, but I'm so excited for 2014. I'm going to dedicate it completely and entirely to music – touring and making a new album. Possibly releasing one."

Lovato added that she will miss "being able to sit next to Kelly and Paulina and see them twice a week, and also helping mentor the contestants".
