  • Demi Lovato and her fiancé, Max Ehrich, broke up last week.

  • The breakup has gotten pretty messy, with Max taking to social media to express his feelings about the relationship.

  • Now, Demi has released a new song, "Still Have Me," which seems to be about the split.

Last week, Demi Lovato and her fiancé of two months, Max Ehrich, split up. When the news broke, Max quickly took to social media, seemingly moving through the stages of their breakup very publicly. The actor posted multiple stories, claiming that he heard about the end of his engagement through the tabloids while on the set of his upcoming movie. He then went on to praise his ex, posting screenshots of her songs and calling her "the best female vocalist alive."

Meanwhile, Demi stayed quiet, though she did unfollow Max on Instagram. Last night, though, the singer revealed that she was finally ready to speak out. "Music is always there for me," she wrote. "Song in the am."

And she did not disappoint. This morning, Demi dropped "Still Have Me," a hauntingly beautiful ballad about her own strength and resilience. While Demi hasn't outright said that the song is about her split with Max, due to the timing, subject matter, and her earlier tweet, many are assuming she wrote the song as a way to deal with the end of the relationship. So, let's check out the lyrics below, provided by Genius, to see what Demi is thinking, post-breakup.

[Intro]
Hmm

[Verse 1]
I'm a mess and I'm still broken
But I'm finding my way back
And it feels like someone's stolen
All the light I ever had

The first verse could describe the way that Demi is feeling right now, following the breakup. Earlier this month, some fans unearthed old comments that Max made on other stars' Instagrams, including the Hadids, Ariana Grande, and Madison Beer, among others. Fans then claimed the actor was simply trying to use these women to boost his own image.

"You can literally see here he’s said the exact same thing as he did to every other celebrity and Demi was the only one to let him in her life," one Twitter user wrote. "Max is using Demi to [boost] his career and it’s worked. I really do feel sick."

At the time, Demi came to the defense of her fiancé, saying the images were "fake." It's unknown if this incident had anything to do with the breakup, but the timing is important to note, as news of their split came just a few days later.

[Pre-Chorus]
Like the world disappeared
And I'm laying right here
While the silence is piercing
And it hurts to breathe

[Chorus]
I don't have much but at least I still have me (I still have me)
And that's all I need
So take my faith but at least I still believe (I still believe)
And that's all I need
I don't have much but at least I still have me

Despite the hard breakup, Demi is letting everyone know that she is still strong.

[Verse 2]
Everything around me shattered
All the highs are now just low
But it doesn't even matter
Cause I'd rather be alone

The shattering that Demi is referring to could again be in reference to Max's past social media activity. While we don't know for sure, that reveal could have been very hard for Demi, especially because one of the people Max used to publicly fawn over was Demi's ex-best friend, Selena Gomez. Max used to tweet out that he was going to marry Selena.

Max also once went live on Instagram and shared his love for Selena.

"I think she’s an extremely, extremely, extremely talented girl, and I’ve actually had a major crush on her since 2010," he said. "I honestly think Selena Gomez is an extraordinary women. What she stands for charity-wise, just being an activist, she just has a great heart. Her heart is in the right place. She loves Jesus. She loves God. She’s just like, she’s an angel, and I love her, but on top of that, I respect her musically and I want to make music with her. Okay? I want to make a song with her and put out a song."

[Pre-Chorus]
All my love disappeared
And I'm laying right here
While the silence is piercing
And it hurts to breathe

[Chorus]
I don't have much but at least I still have me (I still have me)
And that's all I need
So take my faith but at least I still believe (I still believe)
And that's all I need
I don't have much but at least I still have me

[Bridge]
I don't have much but at least I still have me (I still have me)
(Woah, woah)

[Chorus]
I don't have much but at least I still have me (I still have me)
And that's all I need (That's all I need)
So take my faith but at least I still believe (I still believe)
And that's all I need (That's all I need)
I don't have much but at least I still have me

[Outro]
Ooh, hmm

Honestly, if anything can heal a heartbreak, I think it might be this bop. Hopefully, it at least helped the process a little.
