  • While appearing on Ashley Graham’s podcast, Demi said that despite believing she was in recovery, she was “running myself into the ground with workouts and extreme dieting."

Demi Lovato is opening up about her relapse in a new interview with Ashley Graham.

While talking to Ashley Graham on her podcast, Demi opened up about struggles with body image and an eating disorder. Demi, who has been open about her eating disorder in the past, revealed that she just ended up believing she was in recovery, but just replaced it with extreme dieting and hardcore workouts.

"I'm tired of running myself into the ground with workouts and extreme dieting," Demi said. "I thought the past few years was recovery from an eating disorder when it actually was just completely falling into it."

"I think when you have certain people around you that are telling you certain things that you should look a certain way, it makes it harder," she continued. "I was in that situation, and I was just running myself into the ground. I honestly think that's kind of what led to everything happening over the past year was just me thinking I found recovery when I didn't, and then living this kind of lie and trying to tell the world I was happy with myself when I really wasn't."

In addition to an eating disorder, Demi Lovato has also been open about her struggles with addiction. She revealed she relapsed back in 2018 when she released her song "Sober."

Demi thanked Ashley on her Instagram for allowing her to open up about some difficult topics.

"Thank you Ashley for allowing me to really open up about my faith, boundaries, my body acceptance journey, and what my future holds," she wrote on Instagram. "We had such an honest and real conversation... I can’t wait for you guys to watch and listen🙏🏻"

Demi suffered an overdose on June 24, 2018 and stayed out of the spotlight until her big return at the 2020 Grammys in January. She's been making a big comeback over the past couple of months with her new single, "Anyone", which was released after her Grammys performance and she also sang the National Anthem at the Super Bowl.
