Yahoo News Demi Lovato shares no make-up selfie for 'first time in years'
Demi Lovato has shared a make-up free selfie on Instagram, explaining that she feels proud for “loving and accepting” herself the way she is.
On Monday, the singer posted the photograph on the social media platform, explaining that it marked the first time in years that she had partaken in the “#NoMakeupMonday” trend.
The 27-year-old stated that she decided to share the picture “after posting so many glamorous pics with tons of make-up and hair pieces”.
“It’s important to show myself underneath it all,” Lovato said. “This is what I look like 85 per cent to 90 per cent of the time.
“Proud of my freckles, proud of my booty chin and proud of myself for loving and accepting myself the way I am. #ILoveMe.”

There are currently more than 135,000 posts on Instagram tagged with the hashtag “#NoMakeupMonday”.
Other celebrities to have shared no make-up selfies on Instagram include Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and Ciara.
Earlier this month, Lovato performed the American National Anthem ahead of the Super Bowl at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
The singer said that she “blacked out” from excitement during her performance, telling Entertainment Tonight: “I don’t remember anything! I blacked out. I was so excited.”
She later shared a video of her performance on Instagram, thanking the NFL for having her and saying the experience was “a dream come true”.
In the lead-up to her appearance at the Super Bowl, Lovato shared a screenshot of a tweet she posted in 2010, in which she had expressed her desire to one day perform the National Anthem at the annual championship game.
In January, Lovato spoke out about the moment she came out to her parents as “sexually fluid”.
Speaking with Andy Cohen on the Radio Andy SiriusXM show, the musician said the experience was “emotional” and “really beautiful”.
“After everything was done, I was like shaking and crying, but I just felt overwhelmed. I have such incredible parents. They were so supportive,” the Grammy-nominated artist said.
