Plans to knock down an empty office building formerly occupied by a long-running Stoke-on-Trent accountancy firm have emerged. The two-storey property on Vernon Road in Shelton - once the base of DPC Group - is earmarked for demolition.

Removal of the steel-framed building will allow for the future redevelopment of the site. A planning application for the demolition works has been submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council by Burslem-based Jim Wise Demolition Ltd.

It states: "Planning application has been applied to the local planning authority for a determination as whether the prior approval of the authority will be required as to the method statement and any proposed restoration of the site."

DPC - formerly known as Downward, Plumb and Colclough - have been in business for more than 80 years having set up as a sole practitioner from an office in Wellesley Street, Shelton. It later set up base on Vernon Road before departing for a new, modern headquarters in the city at Stone House on Stone Road Business Park.
