Denise Van Outen has revealed she was the victim of revenge porn after a man taped her having sex aged 15.

The singer and actor said the man — who she referred to with the pseudonym “Mike” — used a 'dodgy camcorder' to record them being intimate without her knowledge.

Van Outen opens up about the experience in her new book A Bit Of Me, and speaking ahead of its release she told The Sun: “I’d never been ready before – but now I talk about a situation when I was 15 when an older guy who I actually lost my virginity to filmed us having sex without me knowing.

“He was older than me, and it was very traumatic afterwards.

"He knew my age, and he was 23, and he’d set up a dodgy camcorder in his bedroom without me knowing.”

The star, who has an 11-year-old daughter with her former husband Lee Mead, said it later turned out that the man had done it to other girls too and that the case went to court.

However, the trauma re-emerged years later when Van Outen was becoming a star on TV and she said the man threatened to reveal the video.

Writing in her book, she said she was "shocked and mortified".

She claimed that Mike was “waiting for me to make it big so he could peddle his grubby tape”.

“Revenge porn is talked about a lot these days, but it wasn’t a widespread term back then,” she said.

Appearing on ITV’s Lorraine to promote her book, the 47-year-old said the experience still “haunts” her now.

“It is something that I felt needed to be addressed because it has affected me and now I’m 47, nearly 48, it's still there," she said.

"It still haunts you slightly.”
