Denver Zoo Welcomes Adorable New Kudu Calf

Staff at Denver Zoo in Colorado welcomed a new kudu calf to the herd on Wednesday, October 23.

According to the zoo, baby Eleanor was born to dad Joe and mom Moscato.

Staff said that although Moscato showed great maternal instincts, staff had to step in to assist feeding Eleanor with bottles after they realized she wasn’t nursing correctly.

“Because our lesser kudu herd is so easygoing, Eleanor will be able to live with the herd and learn natural kudu behaviors while getting the nutrition she needs from her caretakers,” the zoo said.

Eleanor will be on display with the rest of the kudu herd and her family members Moscato, Joe, sister Winnifred and aunt Elsa, in the zoo’s Central Rangers habitat. Credit: Denver Zoo via Storyful
