US Flag Pulled From River in Storm-Struck Central Florida

Hurricane Ian has caused “record-high levels on the St Johns River, and it’s still rising,” the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office has warned, with video from October 3 showing the high water level as deputies recovered a US flag.

The National Weather Service (NWS) predicted the river would rise by five more inches in coming days.

“This shows you just how high the river is right now. Some homes along the SJR are inches away from flooding due to a boat wake,” the sheriff’s office said alongside this video. Credit: Volusia Sheriff’s Office via Storyful
