Derby County man makes 'gassed out' admission after Sheffield United defeat
It took a stunning free-kick from Gus Hamer to dent Derby County's hopes of a first away point of the season - but Ram's defender Eiran Cashin doesn't believe the club are far off getting it right.
Cashin was part of a sturdy defensive display from the Rams and one that on another day, would have seen a clean sheet. Reflecting on the game, speaking after the game, he said: " It’s a tough one really, we are disappointed all-in-all. We limited them to few chances and we were disciplined, because we know how good they are. We had a game plan and we stuck to it.
"It felt like we were better on the ball at times, but in the second half we played into their hands a little bit. We were disappointed with the goal, it’s a hell of a strike and maybe if that didn’t go in, we could get a different outcome. They could have been forced to push on and we might have nicked one on the counter. We worked hard, but sometimes maybe we worked a little bit too hard and we gassed out a bit towards the end.

"We had a few chances in the first half and we knew, coming here, it was going to be tough. We weren’t expecting to have that many chances, but we knew we could definitely hit them on the counter and cause some problems.
"The timing of the goal was not great for us as they have all the cards and they sat in and they let us step in. We caused our own problems at times too, which is something we need to work on and definitely get better at."
The game was Paul Warne's 400th game in management, and it will be a Championship defeat that won't go down as a bad performance, even if it wasn't the result the boss would have hoped for..
Cashin believes there were positives to take away, stating: "To be fair, I don’t think we gave up. Towards the end it became a bit scrappy and we got a bit loose and open, but that’s just from our desire to try and win and get something. It wasn’t pretty at times, so we can maybe learn from that, but our intentions and our fight and our desire to try and win are there for everyone to see.
"We didn’t give up and in the first half we were good at times. We kept our shape, we were disciplined and we created the odd chance. There were a lot of positives to take out of this one, so that’s what we can take on into next week."
