Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert Return to Dance Studio 3 Months After Her Craniectomy: ‘Beginning to Paint Again’
The moment was celebrated by many of their celebrity friends including Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Michael Bublé, Amy Purdy and Nina Dobrev
Hayley Erbert has entered a new chapter in her recovery journey.
The dancer, 29, along with her husband Derek Hough, returned to a dance studio together three months after her emergency craniectomy. The moment was captured in a sweet joint Instagram post shared by the couple on Wednesday.
"Stepping onto this blank canvas together. Beginning to paint again ❤️ @hayley.erbert," the caption read.
The post included a black-and-white photo of the couple, who married in August 2023, standing in the middle of a dance floor. Erbert was shown resting her head gently on Hough's shoulder as he wrapped his arms around her.

Many of Erbert and Hough's celebrity friends - including Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Michael Bublé, Amy Purdy and Nina Dobrev - shared their support by posting a series of hearts in the comment section.
Hough, 38, has not ruled out the possibility of having Erbert join him on stage when his Symphony of Dance tour returns on April 16.
The Dancing with the Stars judge told E! News earlier this month that "there's a possibility" Erbert will return and explained why "there's a completely different meaning and tension" to his performances.
"I almost need to rename the tour to the Miracle Tour or something. Because if there's a moment where she's with us and joining us on stage, it's going to be unbelievably special," said Hough. "I don't know even know how I'm going to [get] through it. I'm an emotional guy."
The choreographer recently shared with PEOPLE that the "most emotional" thing for both of them is the support they've felt from those around them since Erbert's health crisis.
“The thing that really makes us — and really her — the most emotional about all of this is just the love that she felt from not just family and friends, but just from everyone. It's a really beautiful feeling and we're just really thankful for that," he said.

Hough also praised Erbert's ability to be "determined" and "unbelievably strong through this whole experience."
“She's incredible. She really is. I double take all the time just seeing the way she's handled this situation with just such elegance and a sense of just accepting it for what it is,” Hough said.
