Dermot O'Leary pays tribute to his cat who has died
Dermot O'Leary has paid a touching tribute to his cat Silver who has died at the age of 4.
Posting a photo of the two of them on Instagram, Dermot revealed that Silver had sadly passed away after fighting a heart condition for seven months, having originally been given days to live in December.
"No words can begin to describe what a massive heart-shaped hole he leaves in our lives. He made our house a home, made us better people, and won the hearts of all that met him. He gave & received unconditional love, and was genuinely the most dog-like cat we've ever met," he wrote.
"As heartbroken as we are, we are so grateful for the stray kitten which came into our lives," Dermot continued. "He was a wonderful friend, companion & cuddle giver, and you couldn't have wished for a more human-like cat. Smart, funny, intuitive, with model looks & a killer blue steel."
The X Factor host added that his wife Dee Koppang actually helped to deliver Silver in an olive grove in Puglia, Italy, and Silver went to sleep in his "mama's arms".
"Rest easy little prince, we miss you terribly. Snooze & play on the laps of those who we followed, and we know we'll be rubbing that brilliant white belly, and massasing those beautiful pink paws, further on up on the road," he wrote.
Paying tribute to the vets that looked after Silver, Dermot concluded: "Some hearts are just too big to be here too long."
