Dermot says Big Brother full of 'TV professionals'

X Factor presenter Dermot O’Leary has hinted that Big Brother is losing its authenticity due to the huge numbers of ‘TV professionals’ on the show.

“It’s kinda weird really,” said Dermot, who presented the show’s Little Brother spin-off for seven years. “I still enjoy it. The casting process is kind of odd now. There’s a group of people who tend to do those. The people who are on it are almost all people who have been on other shows.

“When we first started it, especially for the first few, before it went quite dark, we all really enjoyed it. But now I think the world has changed so much,” Dermot continued.

“That said, I still think it ticks the same box it always has.”

Still, it’s not like the X Factor is immune from the masses of TV professionals, is it? Between them, 2016 contestants Bradley and Ottavio have already notched up performances on Channel 4’s Coach Trip, Vicky Pattison’s dating show Strip Date, and, er, another dating show called How to Pull.

The 43-year-old presenter, who was lured back to the X Factor fold by Simon Cowell’s offer of a reported £8million salary, also told The Sun he spent his Saturday nights away from the show watching chief rival Strictly Come Dancing.

“I’ve never seen it before,” he said. “I’ve always been on telly so I’ve never had a chance to watch it before. I knew it was a show about dancing but I didn’t know much else about it.”
