Derwent Road crash as girl, six, injured in Bedworth

A young girl was left injured after being hit by a car in Bedworth. It happened next to The Canons C of E Primary School on Derwent Road.

Police were called to the scene at around 3.30pm on Friday (June 7). Officers found that a six-year-old girl had been involved in a collision with a car, said Warwickshire Police.

It is believed the young girl ran into the road 'unexpectedly.' She sustained minor injuries, including cuts and grazes, said West Midlands Ambulance Service.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said: “Officers were called to reports of an RTC between a car and a six-year-old girl on Derwent Road in Bedworth. She allegedly ran into the road unexpectedly leading to a collision with an oncoming car and has not received any significant injury beyond minor cuts and grazes.”

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to reports of an RTC involving a car and pedestrian on Derwent Road in Bedworth at 3.24pm on Friday, June 7. One ambulance attended the scene and assessed a young girl who had sustained minor injuries. She was discharged.”
