'Desirable' village cottage in need of modernisation sells at auction
A terraced cottage in a "desirable" Leicestershire village sold at auction. The two-bedroom property in Main Street, Markfield, was among the latest lots offered by SDL Property Auctions.
The double-fronted home, which comes with two reception rooms in the form of a dining room and lounge, also features a "mature" rear garden. Auctioneers had previously revealed the property was in need of "some modernisation".
The cottage was marketed as being in a prime location, with SDL Property Auctions highlighting the village's "excellent" transport links, including the nearby M1. The home also boasts a number of period features.

Inside, the property includes a bathroom, hall and kitchen alongside the two reception rooms, while two bedrooms can be found on the first floor. The home also comes with what auctioneers called a "pleasant" garden which they said could be modernised.
The cottage was sold at auction on Thursday (January 30), achieving its guide price of £100,000. SDL Property Auctions had set this figure plus fees ahead of the sale.
