Despair as mural designed by schoolchildren is vandalised
ANGRY residents are disgusted that vandals have targeted a community-designed mural by spraypainting it with inappropriate language.
An underpass mural leading from the Westlands to King George V playing fields in Droitwich has been covered in graffiti.

Grey squiggles were covering the head of the swan, and blue writing spelling "willy" was spraypainted across the forehead of a boy in the mural.
One resident said: "Some vile human has decided it is their duty to put graffiti on the Westlands underpass over the beautiful happy mural they have painted."
Another added: "Sad that people pay the money and put the time and effort in for people to ruin it."
The Droitwich Underpass Art Project, led by Wychavon District Council, aimed to transform seven underpasses across the town, each designed by schools and community groups.
A professional artist has then decorated the selected underpass with the designs to brighten up the area.
Each design has a theme which takes into consideration each site's history before it was created.
While the mural was added, other works to improve the sites, such as lighting upgrades, took place.
The vandalised design was created by various ideas from the local community instead of a set school or organisation.
One resident added: "Only thing is, I bet if you clear it off, they will just do it again, sadly."
Another resident claims graffiti has also appeared on the underpass near St Joseph's Primary School and Droitwich Spa High School.
In reply to the concerns on social media, Wychavon said they are looking to remove it and have urged concerned residents to fill out a vandalism and fly posting form on its website.
Councillor Richard Morris said the vandalised section could be washed off and that he had reported the damage to the council for removal.

He added: "We are also looking at the aforementioned urban hygiene wipes and getting them to select groups in the community to take ownership of the murals."
Cllr George Duffy added: "It is certainly sad to see damage to any art but especially with it being so newly completed."
He asked residents to send him an email including information about which underpass has been affected.
"There are some we can clean," he added.
