Devastated passers-by ran to help man in tragic Queens Drive crash
Devastated drivers rushed to help a man after an 'horrific' crash on Queens Drive yesterday. Emergency services were called to Queens Drive, Old Swan, at around 12.55pm to reports that a car had crashed into a tree at the junction of Kremlin Drive.
Several passers-by, including two off-duty nurses and a taxi driver, reportedly quickly jumped into action as they tried to help the driver, a man in his 50s, by performing CPR. Paramedics attended and the man was taken to hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead.
Tributes poured in on social media after Merseyside Police confirmed the tragic news. Anna Spencer said: "Really sad this, his poor family. Thank you to all the wonderful people who stopped and tried to help. Hopefully in time to come that will be of some comfort to his family that he wasn’t alone."

Susan Partington said: "I passed this accident before it looked horrendous. God bless him this is so very sad, thinking of his family." Louise Lawson said: "I was there at the time didn’t see it happen but the saw all the emergency services it was horrific. Thoughts are with the family at this extremely sad time."
Lesley Jayne said: "This is so awful, I was diverted today on the drive and I was hoping no one was hurt, condolences to his family and friends."
The road was closed in both directions between Moscow Drive and Mill Lane following the crash, and a cordon remained in place until around 4.30pm yesterday. Merseyside Police spokesman said: "At around 12.55pm, it was reported that a car had been involved in a collision with a tree at the junction of Queens Drive and Kremlin Drive. The driver, a man aged in his 50s, was taken to hospital but he sadly passed away.
"There was no other vehicle involved. A road closure is currently in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area. If you witnessed the collision or have any information, you can call 101 or DM @MerPolCC on social media, quoting log number 367 of 24 November."
