A developer has been found for a new 50-home scheme at the edge of a Leicestershire village. Allison Homes will be taking on the project which will see land off Main Street, in Stanton Under Bardon, near Coalville, developed.

Outline planning permission for up to 50 homes was granted in June by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council. This means the construction work has been approved in principle with the concrete details to be ironed out through a later application.

LeicestershireLive asked Allison Homes when they planned to submit further details to the council for consideration, but had not received a response at the time of publication. However, the developer said it expects construction work to start early next year and be completed in the summer of 2026.

The new homes are expected be a mix of two, three and four-bed properties, the developer said. Of the 50, 15 would be classed as “affordable” and five would be included in the first homes scheme for first-time buyers.

There would also be new trees and wildflower planting, and open space created through the scheme, Allison Homes said. The existing public footpath through the site would also be maintained.

Karl Edwards, operations director at Allison Homes East Midlands, said: "We are [...] looking forward to getting started on site and providing the people of Stanton-under-Bardon with a sustainable, new community.”

The Stanton Under Bardon site is the third Allison Homes scheme for Leicestershire that is set to be worked on over the next year. The developer is also working on sites in Shepshed and Anstey.
