Developer unveils plans for 357 more homes on major housing site
A developer has unveiled details for hundreds of homes it hopes to build as part of a massive development on the outskirts of Coalville. Taylor Wimpey is putting together a planning application for permission to build the 357 homes in Bardon Hill.
These properties would feed into a wider development plan for the South East Coalville area, including construction of approximately 2,700 homes, an Aldi supermarket and a new 420-place primary school. The masterplan was drawn up several years ago to help the town and surrounding area meet the need for new housing.
The South East Coalville Sustainable Urban Extension (SUE) scheme has been split into two parts - Hugglescote Grange and Swinfen Vale. Taylor Wimpey said it hoped to build a mixture of one to four-bedroom homes, including 27 to be sold for "affordable" prices, in Swinfen Vale.

In the meantime, it is inviting residents for their views on the proposals. The development, which will be known as Charnwood Chase, will also include 1.6 acres of public open space.
Helen Chard, Land Director for Taylor Wimpey North Midlands, said: “Gathering the views of the local community is a vital stage in the development process and we are keen to hear what residents living near the site think of our current proposals. We look forward to hearing people’s views.”
The public consultation will open on Thursday, January 23 and run until midnight on Thursday, February 6. The plans will also be uploaded to the Charnwood Chase section on Taylor Wimpey's website. From here, the developer say opinions will shape the development before it is submitted to North West Leicestershire District Council next month.
