Devon court lists: New cases and death of child images suspect

A Devon man has been jailed for breaching the terms of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order. Magistrates sent to Thomas Montgomery to jail for what they called a 'flagrant' breach of his notification requirements.

The 26-year-old was one of dozens of people dealt with by magistrates in November. Other defendants included a woman who damaged a piggy bank, several prolific shoplifters and a driver prosecuted for smoking with a child in the car. Another defendant has died since charges against him were brought.

This list includes 25 men and women who have appeared before magistrates in Exeter and other courts in Devon.

NOVEMBER 18

David Stott, Smythen Street, Exeter. Age: 44. On 23/08/2024 at South Street, Exeter, assaulted a female by beating. Plea: Guilty. Community order for 12 months. Programme and rehabilitation activity. Fine £180.

Liam Willsher, Kings Drive, Stoke Gabriel. Age: 30. On 06/09/2024 at Heavitree Road, Exeter, drove whilst disqualified. Plea: Guilty. Community order for 18 months. Unpaid work for 140 hours. Disqualified for 21 months.

Billy Soper, Copplestone Drive, Exeter. Age: 20. On 14/08/2023 at Palace Gate, Exeter, assaulted a male causing ABH. Assaulted two emergency workers by beating. Used towards a male threatening words with intent and offence was racially aggravated. Plea: Guilty. Community order for 18 months. Unpaid work for 250 hours. Compensation £600.

Thomas Montgomery, NFA Okehampton. Age: 26. On 16/09/2024 at Okehampton, breached a Sexual Harm Prevention Order by being in the company of a child and breach sex offender register by notification. Prison for 23 weeks. Flagrant disregard for court orders.

Dawn Bowden AKA Barrow, Queens Way, Tiverton. Age: 45. On 11/08/2022 at Tiverton criminal damage to property including a piggy bank. Plea: Guilty. Community order and £120 fine.

Laurence Harvey, Prescot Road, Exeter. Age: 37. Application for a sexual risk order. Granted. Sexual risk order made for 10 years with prohibitions.

NOVEMBER 19

James Mascall, Queens Avenue, Ilfracombe. Age: 28. On 06/11/2021 at Barnstaple assaulted a male and female causing ABH and criminal damage to a door. Plea: Guilty. Prison for 26 weeks suspended for 12 months. Compensation £650.

Phillip Dempsey, Kala Fair, Westward Ho!. Age: 54. Between 01/05/2022 and 01/11/2023 at Westward Ho! allegedly possessed indecent photographs of children. Defendant has died. Alleged offences withdrawn.

Tyler Patterson, Honiton Road, Cullompton. Age: 22. On 19/06/2024 at Cullompton drug driving. Plea: Guilty. Disqualified for 17 months. Fine £200.

Seine Fawcett, Stoneland Close, Cranbrook. Age: 34. On 30/07/2024 at M&S Honiton stole items valued at £85. Plus five further shoplifting offences. Plea: Guilty. Conditional discharge for 12 months and pay compensation.

Victor Osundeyi, Kemps Field, Cranbrook. Age: 38. On 31/10/2024 at Clyst Honiton drink driving. Plea: Guilty. Disqualified for 17 months. Fine £850.

NOVEMBER 20

Lucy Miles, Mandrake Road, Exeter. Age: 36. On 28/09/2024 at Mandrake Road, damaged a car belonging to a female. Breach of a suspended sentence for assault. Plea: Guilty. Committed to prison for a term of eight weeks suspended for 14 months. Fined £50.

Barry Terry, NFA, Appledore. Age: 45. On Between 10/10/2024 and 10/11/2024 at Braunton failed to comply with notification requirements of the sex offender register. Plea: Guilty. Prison for 16 weeks. Flagrant disregard for court orders.

John Harding, Harepath Road, Seaton. Age: 51. On 05/12/2023 at Seaton possessed weapons in private place, namely knuckleduster and extending batons and torch. Plea: Guilty. Conditional discharge.

NOVEMBER 21

Jordan Mason, Howell Road, Exeter. Age: 24. On 04/09/2024 at High Street Exeter stole alcohol from Tesco. Plus seven further shoplifting offences and common assault on an emergency worker. Plea: Guilty. Prison for 33 weeks. Offences during period of suspended sentence.

James Ash, Hugh Squier Avenue, South Molton. Age: 23. On 19/11/2024 breached a stalking order. Plea: Guilty. Prison for 30 weeks.

Daniel Anderson, Buckland Brake, Newton Abbot. Age: 43. On 10/11/2024 at Newton Abbot stole three rucksacks form a vehicle. Plus handling stolen goods. Plea: Guilty. Committed to crown court on 19/12/2024.

NOVEMBER 22

Alan Tomson, King Street, Exeter. Age: 67. On 21/10/2024 at Mermaid Court used threatening abusive words or behaviour against a male and a Bail Act offence. Plea: Guilty. Fined £200.

Oliver Cheetham, Laburnum Drive, Barnstaple. Age: 36. On 16/06/2024 at Barnstaple smoking in a vehicle in which a child was present. Plus an offence of driving while drug above limit. Plea: Guilty. Disqualified for 12 months. Fine £346.

Kate Farmer, Headlands View Avenue, Woolacombe. Age: 38. On 07/11/2024 at Barnstaple driver failed to provide a specimen. Plea: Guilty. Disqualified for 12 months. Fine £40.

NOVEMBER 25

Kerrie Edwards, Meadow Brook Close, Exeter. Age: 40. On 14/09/2024 at Monkerton Drive Exeter assaulted an emergency worker and drink driving. Plea: Guilty. Disqualified for 12 months and fined £240.

Conor Paul Braund, NFA. Age: 29. On 23/11/2024 at Bideford breached a domestic violence protection order. Admits breach. Committed to prison for four weeks.

Leo Seldon, Alford Crescent, Exeter. Age: 19. Sexual risk order made for two years with prohibitions.
