Devon murder suspect held after discovery of woman's body

A 26-year-old man has been arrested by police on suspicion of murder in Devon following the discovery of a woman's body at a farm in the county.

On 3 January, the body of 53-year-old Katherine Bevan was found inside a building at a farm in the village of Gittisham, near Honinton in Devon.

A murder enquiry was launched after a post-mortem concluded on the 18 January.

Devon and Cornwall Police have not revealed the victim's cause of death.

The investigation is being led by a specialist major crime team based in Exeter, and a spokesperson for the force said: "A 26-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody at this time.

"Anyone who feels they have information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact Devon and Cornwall Police."
