Devoted grandfather remembered in latest Surrey death notices

A "devoted" father, grandfather and great-grandfather is among those being remembered in the latest death and funeral notices for Surrey. James "Don" Jones, who has died at the age of 87, will be "sadly missed", his family said.

Bob died peacefully at home in Godalming on 2nd January 2025, aged 87 years. Former President of Holloway Hill Bowling Club, keen bowls, bridge, table tennis and chess player. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.

Derek John Burnard Bicknell

Derek, of Farncombe, and more recently Elstead, beloved husband of Wendy, loving father to Phillip and Karen, sadly passed away on the 21st December 2024, aged 85. A service will be held at Guildford Crematorium, on Wednesday 29th January at 1.30pm.

Grania Honor Elston

Grania Elston, (formerly Lown), died peacefully on New Year's Day 2025. Wife to Chris Elston and previously wife to the late Geoffrey Lown. Grania was known for living in, and welcoming so many to, her beloved home - Coneyhurst on the Hill.

Grania will leave an enormous gap in the hearts of her husband (Chris), her sister (April), her children (Georgina and James), and her grandchildren (Zach, Ollie, Elsie, Felix and Stella), all of Chris' family (Amelia and Fred, Rupert, Ellen and Poppy) and her wide circle of friends - past and present. She will be forever missed.

Funeral service at Ewhurst Parish church (St Peter & St Paul) on Friday 24th January at 2pm and afterwards at the Bulls Head Pub in Ewhurst. All are welcome, no specific dress code. Peacefully passed away at Frimley Park Hospital, 7th December 2024. Much loved wife of the late Alan Robert Frank Mortimer. Mum to Gary and Paul. Nanny and Great-Nanny to Jessica, Holly and Max. Sorely missed by her family and friends.
