The Lucapa Diamond Company has found what it called the largest pink diamond recovered in 300 years, according to a press release on July 27.
Lucapa announced they uncovered the 170-carat pink stone at their Lulo mine in Angola and named it “The Lulo Rose”.
Lucapa Managing Director, Stephen Wetherall, said “Lulo is an exceptional alluvial resource and is truly a gift. We are once again made very proud by yet another historic recovery."
The diamond will be sold via international tender to be conducted by the Angolan State Diamond Marketing Company, the company said. Credit: Lucapa Diamond Company via Storyful
