Dina Asher-Smith heads a stellar field in the Diamond League event in Birmingham this weekend.

The new star of British athletics, who won three sprint gold medals at the European Championships in Berlin, is listed to compete in the women’s 200m on Saturday. It will be the first time Asher-Smith has competed in front of a British crowd since her brilliant performances in Germany.

She tweeted: “And just like that we’re off again! So excited to be running at the #MullerGPBham on Saturday. Can’t wait to see you all there and say thank you for the support throughout.”

Asher-Smith’s performances in Berlin — she set a personal best of 21.89sec in winning the 200m — elevated her into the world elite and she will now be targeting glory at the World Championships next year and then the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Elsewhere, British pair Zharnel Hughes and Reece Prescod are down to run in the men’s 100m, with global sprinting aces Noah Lyles, Christian Coleman, Akani Simbine and Cameron Burrell also among the entries.
