Dick and Angel Strawbridge continued their adventures around France as part of their new travel series.

The Channel 4 show, Secret France, follows the pair as they discover lesser-seen areas and soak up everything the local culture has to offer.

Dick and Angel travelled to Thiers, the capital of the French knife-making industry, to get hands-on with the craft. As they explored the shops and met with experts to learn more about the history, they were invited to create bespoke knives of their own.

Thanks to her father who was a jeweller by trade, Angel was familiar with the machinery. However, she admitted polishing a 20,000-year-old mammoth tooth that would become the base of her knife was unfamiliar territory.

An expert was on hand to guide the pair through the process and to meet their specifications which included Mr and Mrs embossments.

Once completed, the pair noticed a secret nod to their famous chateau lovingly decorated into the knives' handles. Angel said: "We've got different designs."

Dick said: "It's the tower of the chateau! Turn it over, it's the tower of the chateau." Their knives both had faint depictions of their home, the star Channel 4's Escape to the Chateau, carved into their handles. Dick added: "That is so special. I don't kiss many men but that is so special."

Thrilled with the unexpected gesture, the pair hugged the knife expert and praised his skills.
