Mere weeks after her casting was announced, it's believed that DeWanda Wise has had to pull out of the upcoming Captain Marvel film due to scheduling conflicts.

Wise's role in the Brie Larson-led project hadn't been confirmed, but it was reported that she would play a supporting part in the movie – until now.

Deadline is reporting that DeWanda's exit from Captain Marvel is down to scheduling conflicts with her Netflix series She's Gotta Have It.

Netflix's adaptation of Spike Lee's 1986 title was renewed for a second season in January, and stars Wise as Nola Darling.

The MCU's first solo female superhero film since its creation has started filming, with Brie Larson in the front seat as Air Force pilot-turned-super Carol Danvers.

As well as being the first female-led comic book movie from Marvel, it will also be the universe's first flashback film, set in the 1990s before the rise of the Avengers.

Samuel L Jackson's Nick Fury will be on hand to help Carol get to grips with her powers, as the pair will gear up to fight Marvel's classic shapeshifting aliens, the Skrulls.

Despite its very exciting premise, and excellent casting in Larson, some fans of the Captain Marvel series were left feeling a little concerned when our first-look at Danvers' costume on-set was suspiciously green.

Fortunately, Marvel concept artist Andy Park has since reassured fans that "they're going to be happy" with Brie's official Captain Marvel super-suit. Which will obviously be blue, red and gold, right?

Captain Marvel will be released on March 8, 2019, followed by Avengers 4 hitting cinemas on May 3, 2019.
