Did Gogglebox’s Mary just unveil a new nickname for Giles?

Gogglebox returned to our screens on Friday night (May 24), bringing us the joy that was our favourite TV families watching Eurovision and Gentleman Jack.

But as usual, the best lines of the night went to Giles and Mary, who so far this season have disappointed with their absence on one episode and had a hair-cutting disaster on another.

The eccentric couple are known for calling each other ‘Nutty’ as a pet name, but on Friday night Mary appeared to unveil a new (and even more confusing) nickname for Giles.

While watching a TV report on Nigel Farage, Giles remarked that he shouldn’t stand on an open-deck bus as it may make him a target for snipers.

Mary replied: "Don’t have ugly thoughts, drinky."

Drinky? That was a new one for viewers.

Giles also had plenty of thoughts on Madonna’s Eurovision performance, including that she was wearing a patch on her eye due to having a stye.

He also added: "If she was our friend, we'd give her the three-word advice we give to all our friends: act your age."

Later, Mary made Giles look at himself in the mirror while he was eating so he'd learn to keep his mouth closed and not let any air in.

But Giles wasn't too impressed by her advice, telling her: "I think we must go to a couple’s therapy thing and find out why you’re infantilising me."

Never change, Giles and Mary.

Gogglebox will return next week (May 31) at 9pm on Channel 4.
